We have a dedicated team of international staff ready to help you with your studies and life  here at NZIST. COMMON AREAS

 

Large areas equipped with sofas and coffee tables where students can meet friends and take a break. Lunch rooms equipped with micro-wave ovens, tea and coffee facilities. On Level 9,  we have a table-tennis room where students can enjoy their time after class. Wifi internet is accessible to every student in the whole school.

COMPUTER ROOM

 

The computer room is available to all NZIST students.

EDUCATION (Pastoral Care of International Students) CODE OF PRACTICE 2016

NZIST has agreed to observe and be bound by the Code of Practice . The Code of Practice has set high standards for the care and protection of all international students with the aim to ensure that all international students are taken good care of and are safe while studying in New Zealand. Summary of the Code of Practice

The Code sets standards for education providers to ensure that:

  • High professional standards are maintained

  • The recruitment of international students is undertaken in an ethical and responsible manner

  • Information supplied to international students is comprehensive, accurate, and up‐to‐date

  • Students are provided with information prior to entering into any commitments

  • Contractual dealings with international students are conducted in an ethical and responsible manner

  • The particular needs of international students are recognised

  • International students are in safe accommodation

  • All providers have fair and equitable internal procedures for the resolution of international student grievances

Who does the Code apply to?

The Code applies to all education providers in New Zealand with international students enrolled. The Code is mandatory to these providers and must be signed by them.

 

How can I get a copy of the Code?  

A hard copy of the Code is also available to be viewed in every classroom and in the office of the Centre Manager, Counsellor Area and Staff Room.

 

How do I know if an education provider has signed the Code?

The New Zealand Ministry of Education maintains a register of all signatories to the Code. If the education provider that you are seeking to enrol with is not a signatory to the Code, you will not be granted a permit from Immigration New Zealand and you will not be able to study at that institution.

 

What do I do if something goes wrong?

If you have a complaint about New Zealand Institute of Science & Technology breaching the Education (Pastoral Care of International Student) Code of Practice 2016, follow NZIST’s formal complaint procedure first which can be found in the Student Handbook

If this does not resolve your complaint, you can contact New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA) by phone on 0800 697 296 or email qadrisk@nzqa.govt.nz.

 

Or, if it is a financial or contractual dispute, NZQA will refer it to the Dispute Resolution Scheme operator, Student Complaints (who have been appointed to this role by the Ministry of Education).
